In the past few months, we have seen the planet earth burning with numerous wildfires in different parts of the world, exacerbating the climatic emergency that we live today.

Pope Francis, in the encyclical Laudato si’, invites the entire human race to hear the cries of the poor since they are the most affected by the climate crisis.

We as Franciscans, called by our charism, have a commitment to the most vulnerable people. For this reason, it is a charismatic duty to dedicate the 20th of September to raise our voices for the voiceless who are the most affected by this socio-environmental crisis.

Indeed, we want to invite you to join the youth of the world and go out on the streets, raise our voices on behalf of those who are not heard and, in addition, are the most affected by the extreme weather, generated by the throwaway culture.

Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,
Yours are the praises, the glory,
and the honour and all blessing.
To You alone, Most High, do they belong
and no human is worthy
to mention Your name.
Praised be you, my Lord,
with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
who is the day,
and through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful
and radiant with great splendour;
and bears a likeness of You, Most High one…

(Saint Francis of Assisi, Canticle of Creatures)
