Br Taucen Hotlan Girsang, OFM, of the Province of St. Michael the Archangel in Indonesia, was appointed Assistant Director of the General Office of JPIC by the General Definitory of the Order during the month of July of this year.

Br Taucen arrived at the General Curia from his home country on October 6 to take up his post.

The new Assistant Director was the JPIC President of the Franciscan Asia-Oceania Conference (SAAOC). He completed specialization studies at Erasmus University in the Netherlands. During that time he served as a volunteer with the Catholic Family Group of Indonesian origin in Haarlem-Amsterdam.

Br Taucen took his first vows in 2000, his solemn profession in 2006 and his ordination to the priesthood in 2007.

Among some of the offices he has held in his province are that of guardian, parish priest, chaplain, among others.
