There are many reasons that move us as Franciscans to be part of this great project. In its most recent Plenary Council, the Order reflected on Laudato Si’ and declared that “as individuals, fraternities, entities, and as an international Order, make a clear and radical choice on the modalities indicated by Laudato si’, to live authentically our charism and embark on a path of ecological conversion”
(Cf. CPO/18 n. 189).

On May 24, 2020, Pope Francis declared a special Laudato Si ‘anniversary year. The year 2020 will remain in the history of humanity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disproportionately affected impoverished and vulnerable areas. In this painful and challenging context, the encyclical Laudato Si ’provides the moral and spiritual compass we need as humanity to build a more compassionate, peaceful and sustainable society.

What is the Laudato Si ‘action platform?

The Laudato Si ‘Platform for Action is one of the Vatican’s efforts to advance, through the Laudato Si’ goals, the socio-economic and cultural transitions necessary for our collective flourishing. This initiative will provide a space for the entire Church to learn and develop as we make “concrete decisions, here and now,” to build the future we want, a future that represents the spirit of Laudato Si’.

During the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis announced about the Laudato Si Platform

How can I be a part?

The Platform, which will be officially presented on May 25 at 1:00 p.m. (Rome), is made up of several collaborators, among them: Salesians, Jesuits, Global Catholic Climate Movement, Union of Superiors General and International Union Superiors General. The JPIC Office, as a member of the Steering Committee, joins this space for meeting, action and reflection, contributing to all the work that the JPIC animators of the Order and of the Franciscan Family have been doing during the Laudato Si Revolution. We invite you to participate in this event where the Platform will be presented through Vatican News as the first step, to learn, learn and make a decision on which area of the proposals your organization will join. On October 4, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the second part of this initiative will be presented.
