The awards ceremony for Equalityand Diversity, also called “the human rights Oscars” took place in the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania on March 28th, 2019 and was an occasion where the most distinguished people in the field of human rights were honoured. Br. Evaldas Darulis OFM, from the Province of St. Casimir in Lithuania was recognized for his efforts to encourage Christians to be more respectful and nondiscriminatory towards LGBT+ persons. 

Br. Evaldas established the first Catholic spiritual support group for LGBT+ persons and their relatives in the parish of St. Francis of Assisi Vilnius, where he is pastor. The National Award for equality and diversity is organized by the Ombudsman at the Office for Equal Opportunities and the National Forum for Equality and Diversity.
